BRS working president K T Rama Rao today expressed his displeasure over the plight of gurukul schools in the State.
He alleged that the Revanth Reddy government had pushed the gurukuls and school education in the State into a crisis, and that in the last 11 months since the former had taken over, 52 gurukul school students had died and 38 incidents of food poisoning were reported.
"Not even a single review has been conducted so far despite so many students dying. The Chief Minister is killing the students due to the criminal negligence of his administration. The State does not even have an education minister. The Chief Minister just travels to Delhi all the time, and does not have enough time for the State's children. This is a complete anti-student government," he said.
He announced that to bring the problem into the limelight, from November 30 to December 7, the BRS would hold a "Gurukula Baata" across the State, and visit all the gurukuls of the State.
"As part of the Gurukula Baata, BRS MLAs, MPs, MLCs, senior party leaders and women leaders will inspect the gurukuls, KGBVs, model schools, government residential schools and colleges across the State," he said.
KTR added that a study committee had also been formed by the BRS to study the conditions of the gurukuls, KGBVs and model schools. "A five-member gurukul study committee has been formed under the chairmanship of R S Praveen Kumar. The committee will submit a report to the BRS after the Gurukula Baata, and the issues of the report will be raised in the Assembly," he said.
