DGP Promises To Fill 18,000 Jobs, Better Policing
Telangana DGP M Mahendar Reddy stated that with crime rate having increased up to 12.93 percent in 2017, top priority was being given to law and order.

Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy announced on Saturday that 18,000 posts in the state police department would be filled very soon.
In an interaction with the media, the top cop held forth on a variety of policing issues in the state. Stating that the crime rate had increased by 12.93% in 2017, the DGP said that the infusement of more men into the force by filling in the vacancies would bring the rate under control. He also said that severe action would be taken against those violating law and order to ensure adequate deterrence.
To enhance the capabilities of the force to enforce the law, significant infrastructural investments were also being made, the DGP said. A Mini-Command Control Center had been set up in every district, and Command & Control Centers, Cyber Crime Centers and Clues Teams would be set up in all the districts of the state soon, he said.
The department was also adopting technology to enhance its own efficiency and to improve its interface with the public, he said. As part of that, e-challan and social media units would be set up across the state, he said. He also expressed happiness at the TS Cop App getting awards.
Speaking about the various citizen-friendly programmes initiated by the department, he said that the "Nenu Saitham" and Community CCTV projects had received tremendous responses. In order to make policing effective in improving the living standards of people, an eight-point formula had been prepared to achieve the goal which would be implemented soon, he said.
He also added that the police would constantly strive to build the peoples' trust in the force.
