The IPS Association of Telangana has condemned BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao's "irresponsible and highly derogatory" comments against DGP Anjani Kumar.
The Association also requested Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to take firm disciplinary action against Rao, who represents the Dubbaka Assembly constituency located in Siddipet district.
"Such an irresponsible statement from a legislator and the use of unparliamentary language against a senior government functionary is highly unbecoming and unhealthy in a democratic set-up. Further, such disparaging remarks are highly demoralising for the entire police force of Telangana, which is working day and night to ensure the safety and security of the public, and the maintenance of law and order, in the State," the Association said.
Rao had called Anjani Kumar a "Bihari goonda" for yesterday's arrest of BJP Telangana president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay.
