Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy lashed out at the BJP-led union government for "working against the federal spirit of the Constitution and obstructing Telangana from getting funds from financial institutions".
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Reddy alleged that the BJP government had been taking decisions against the federal spirit of the democracy with an intention to grab the powers of the State governments, and had been deliberately ignoring the genuine demands of Telangana whose granting was promised in the State bifurcation act.
Reddy also expressed displeasure over the remarks made by the BJP's Telangana leaders who said that Telangana's economy was going the same way as that of Sri Lanka.
The State BJP leaders, instead of exerting the pressure on the union government to deliver on the commitments in the bifurcation act, were indulging in cheap remarks against the TRS government and were trying to mislead the people, Reddy alleged.
He also claimed that the BJP leaders were hatching a conspiracy to create political unrest in the State by provoking the people in the name of caste and religion.
The Council Chairman also welcomed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's decision to nominate Hetero group's Parthasaradhi Reddy to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana, and said that the latter deserved the post.
