MLA Kavitha Asks Sonia For Telangana
On Women's Day, Telangana Congress MLA M Kavitha thanked Sonia for her efforts for the Women's Reservation Bill, and asked her for a separate Telangana.
Greeting all women on the centennial year of the International Women's Day, Telangana Congress MLA M Kavitha on Tuesday thanked Congress President Sonia Gandhi for her efforts to push for the passing of the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, Kavitha appealed to Sonia Gandhi to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of the Telangana people by announcing a separate Telangana state.
The MLA asked Sonia Gandhi to stand by the statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on 9 December 2009, and speed up the process of the Telangana state formation.
Pointing out that women from Telangana region were supporting the agitation and participating in the struggle wholeheartedly, Kavitha said that integrationist efforts were limited to leaders from Seemandhra regions, where the women have not expressed any desire to join the unification efforts.
"The participation of women in the Telangana agitation indicates the intense desire of the people for the formation of Telangana," she stated.
Another Congress MLA Rajanna stated that the party MLAs would a launch a protest in front of the Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises on Wednesday, in support of the MPs agitating in New Delhi for the introduction of the Telangana Bill in Parliament.
