Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the Congress was ready to confront Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly registering false cases against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Addressing the TPCC State Executive meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, the Chief Minister strongly condemned what he called the Modi government's vendetta politics against the Gandhi family. He said that the money laundering case filed against the Gandhis in the National Herald matter was intended only to divert public attention from Rahul Gandhi's nationwide Vote Chori campaign.
"The Gandhi family have given several lives for the country. They started the National Herald with their own assets and played a key role in the freedom struggle. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi worked hard to financially support the families of the National Herald employees," the CM said.
He added that the Congress had appointed key leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge as board directors and revived the newspaper.
"Not a single rupee of government money was used to run the paper. It was sustained entirely with assets inherited from Nehru," he claimed.
Reddy also announced that the party was adopting a resolution strongly condemning the "illegal cases" filed against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. "We are sending a strong message to Modi that we stand firmly with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, and are ready to fight if necessary. It is also everyone's responsibility to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India," he said.
The Chief Minister took the opportunity to also speak about his government's initiatives, and said that the State government would allocate substantial funds to develop Osmania University to international standards during the Arts College meeting scheduled for December 7.
He also said that the government would unveil the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document at the Global Summit on December 8, targeting a USD 3 trillion State economy by 2047.
The CM also outlined plans to develop the State into three regions - Core Urban Region (CURE), Peri-Urban Region (PURE) and Rural Agricultural Region Economy (RARE). As per reports, the government has already decided to shift polluting industries from the core urban zone to locations beyond the Outer Ring Road. PURE will be developed within the Regional Ring Road, and RARE outside it. Dry ports, four more airports, the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Greenfield Highway, and the bullet train sanctioned by the Union government would be the major game changers, the CM said.
Reddy also claimed that women were expressing happiness over the distribution of Indiramma sarees. He instructed the newly appointed district Congress presidents to ensure proper coordination with village-level committees for the saree distribution. A total of 65 lakh sarees would be distributed in rural areas by the end of December, and 35 lakh sarees would be distributed in urban areas in March, he said.
He added that the previous government had left the State burdened with heavy debts, but the Congress government was steering it toward growth despite challenges.
Reddy also warned the DCC presidents that action would be taken against those found negligent in following the party's directives. He said that the DCC chiefs had a significant responsibility, and urged them to move forward with determination despite political challenges.
He also appealed to the party leaders to take the government's welfare and development programs to every household.
