A 33-member delegation of Congress legislators from Telangana has gone to meet Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi for introduction of the Telangana bill.
As many as 33 Congress legislators left for the national capital on Monday hoping that the large delegation would compel the party high command to take an early decision on the long-pending demand of a separate Telangana state.
The 33 Legislators, comprising of 27 MLAs and 6 MLCs, have already announced that they would meet the Congress Core Committee members and hopefully get an appointment with the party President Sonia Gandhi so that they could brief her over the growing restlessness among the people and the politicians over the issue.
The legislators also hope that their numbers will be further boosted if the cabinet ministers from the state and the MPs, too, join them in their bid to 'woo' the high command.
The cabinet ministers expected to join the legislators are Ponnala Lakshmaiah, J Geetha Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, D K Aruna, K Venkat Reddy, Sunita Lakshma Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, P Sudarshan Reddy, D Nagendar, M Mukesh Goud and Sabitha Indra Reddy.
MLC Yadav Reddy and MLAs Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, Kavitha, Kunja Satyavathi, Muthyam Reddy, T Rajaiah, Praveen Reddy, Pratap Reddy, P Kishta Reddy, K Laxma Reddy, S Satyanarayana and C Lingaiah were among the team of legislators who had left for New Delhi.
