Telangana Not Easy: Azad

Congress In-Charge Of AP Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad responded to Telangana Congress leaders' mass resignation decision, saying that Telangana cannot be given easily.
Hyderabad | 1st July 2011
In response to the sensational declaration of mass resignations by Telangana Congress leaders, Congress In-Charge Of AP Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad has made statements that hint that a separate Telangana is nowhere in sight.

The Union Health Minister said Telangana is a sensitive issue, one that can be resolved only by sitting across a table and discussing all aspects.

He said that there are several factors that go into deciding whether Telangana should be made a separate state - allies of the UPA, national parties, regional parties all over India, and political parties within Andhra Pradesh itself. Such discussions will be started soon, he added.

There is a need to respect and take into account opinions of people from all regions of the state, he said.

The bifurcation of any state has repurcussions that go beyond the state alone, he added, and said that this is a decision that would afect the country as well.
