All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Dasoju Sravan on Sunday demanded that a case of corruption be registered against Telangana Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy for allegedly collecting crores of rupees from aspirants to give TRS party tickets for the upcoming municipal elections.
He also demanded that Reddy be sacked from the cabinet with immediate effect.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan today, Sravan played out some audio clips which had gone viral on the social media, which suggested that Reddy and his close relatives had asked for huge money to give TRS tickets.
He said that the audio clip was of a telephonic conversation between Reddy and his son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, who had also contested for the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat, and showed that they were demanding lakhs of rupees from aspirants for TRS tickets for the municipal elections.
Asking whether seeking money to give a party ticket was not corruption, he demanded that the Anti-Corruption Bureau register a suo moto case against the minister and his relatives.
He said that some aspirants had also spoken to the media accusing the minister of demanding huge amounts.
When the ACB could arrests employees for demanding money, how could it be silent when a similar crime was allegedly being committed by a minister, Sravan asked.
He demanded a high-level enquiry into the allegations and stern action against the minister.
He also said that the Congress would lodge a formal complaint with the police and the Election Commission in this regard.
He pointed out that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had announced in the past that he would not spare anyone who indulged in corruption. He asked whether KCR would stick to the same stand now against Malla Reddy.
The Congress leader also demanded that Election Commission take against Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao for intimidating voters saying that he would come to know who they had voted for in the municipal elections.
