The Justice B N Srikrishna committee arrived in Hyderabad on Monday to continue its discussions.
Tuesday saw the panel interact with leaders of NGOs dedicated to the cause of the formation of Telangana. Representatives met the committee at
Jubilee Hall. They were of the opinion that there can be no development if a separate state of Telangana is not formed.
According to those who attended the meeting, a united state will lead to several people continuing to be denied job opportunities, and only people from the Andhra region will continue to prosper.
On Monday, the Srikrishna Committee interacted with representatives of the Telangana Retired Engineers Forum. Concerns were raised regarding injustices faced in the areas of power and irrigation - there were issues of Jalayagnam projects in Telangana not being given enough funds, as opposed to those in Andhra and Seema regions. To this, the Srikrishna committee members said they would depute a team consisting of retired Central Water Commission officials as well as experts in the power sector, to look into the issues.
The Andhra Joint Action Committee (JAC) and the Andhra Pradesh Dalit Mahasabha were other groups that met the Telangana panel on Monday. These groups opposed a united state, and said that bifurcation woule help in all-round development.
