Telangana Committee: Varying Opinions

TDP leaders are unanimous in their disappointment, while the Congress is split in its opinion
Hyderabad | 3rd February 2010
There are varying reactions to the Centre’s announcement on the Justice Sri Krishna committee.

While TRS leader KTR welcomed the committee announcement, other Telangana proponents say this is a continuation of the Centre’s ploy to cheat the people of Telangana.

The TDP is concurring in its opinion – both Telangana and United AP leaders are disappointed with the committee, for different reasons though.

At a Seemandhra meeting, where TDP leader Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao said that the committee is part of a plot by Chidambaram to split the state. He said that by forming a committee of intellectuals who aren’t related to the state of Andhra Pradesh, the Centre has insulted political parties.

Seemandhra Congress leaders are happy with the announcement, and have actually gone on to say that those who aren’t happy be damned.

There’s also the concern of a time-frame not binding the committee, which could vindicate the opinions of those who believe this is a ploy to delay the process of state formation indefinitely.
