Chief Justice of India Justice N V Ramana, who arrived in Hyderabad today, was accorded a warm welcome after he landed at the Shamshabad International Airport by various top officials of the state.
Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court Hima Kohli, ministers K T Rama Rao, Mahamood Ali, A Indrakaran Reddy, T Srinivas Yadav, Sabitha Indra Reddy, and Ajay Kumar, Telangana State Planning Commission Deputy Chairman B Vinod Kumar, Hyderabad Mayor G Vijayalakshmi, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, and DGP M Mahender Reddy were among those who went to receive the CJI at the airport.
After landing, Ramana went to the Raj Bhavan where he met Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Sources state that KCR left for his camp office, the Pragathi Bhavan, soon after welcoming the CJI to the city.
This is Ramana's first visit to Telangana's capital. He will reportedly stay in Hyderabad for three days.
The CJI's visit comes days after he took steps to
increase the number of judges at the Telangana High Court from 24 to 42 in order to help resolve pending cases at the court in a speedy manner.
With his initiative, Telangana's apex court is likely to employ more judges very soon.
