Contestants from Group 2 of Miss World 2025 are set to visit the world-renowned handloom village of Pochampally on May 15.
This exclusive event will shine a global spotlight on one of India's most celebrated textile traditions - the Pochampally Ikat.
Located in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana, Pochampally played a historic role in the Bhoodan Movement led by Acharya Vinoba Bhave. It now offers a rare blend of textile artistry and socio-cultural legacy, and is internationally acclaimed for its intricate Ikat weaving techniques. The village has been recognised by UNESCO as the "Best Tourism Village of the World", and stands as a living museum of craftsmanship, culture and heritage.
The Miss World contestants will experience the unique local flavour, witness the traditional tie-and-dye process, interact with master weavers, and witness the making of the iconic Telia Rumal - a double Ikat masterpiece once favoured by the Nizams of Hyderabad.
This prestigious visit is set to place Telangana's rich handloom heritage on the global map, as the Miss World platform offers unprecedented international visibility.
As anticipation builds for the grand finale of Miss World in Hyderabad later this month, the Pochampally visit promises to be a highlight - where beauty meets heritage, and the loom tells the story of Telangana to the world.
