Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar today directed the concerned officials to initiate steps to use information technology (IT) to improve the quality of the health services being provided to the patients in the state.
The CS held a review meeting in the BRKR Bhavan with various health officials on the possible ways to use IT to improve the health services.
"As per the vision of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is committed to the provision of quality healthcare to all in the state, we need to use high-end technology to ensure that the healthcare services available to the people can be improved. We must use IT-based solutions to achieve this in Telangana's rural and urban areas alike," he said.
Kumar then advised the officials to come with easy-to-use applications for the health sector.
"The IT solutions to bolster the health sector must be simple to use. They should focus on improving both efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery, and should also serve as reliable decision support systems and planning tools," he said.
The CS also directed the officials of the state's health department to review the regulatory functions discharged by them, and asked them to come up with a detailed analysis of the processes on which the department was run, in a timely manner.
"Please submit a detailed analysis of the health department's functioning along with suggested measures for the simplification of the processes for the same, and to increase ease of compliance and transparency within the departmet," he said.
Secretary (Health, Medical & Family Welfare) Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, Health & Family Welfare Commissioner Vakati Karuna, Special Secretary (Finance) Ronald Rose, IAS D Divya, Special Secretary (Women & Child Development) Alagu Varsini, AYUSH Department Director Preeti Meena, Director Drug Control Administration Adwait Kumar Singh, EA to CS Soni Bala Devi, Special Secretary (Health, Medical & Family Welfare) Dr Ramesh Reddy, Medical Education Director Dr Srinivas Rao, Public Health & Family Welfare Director Chandrasekhar Reddy and other officials were present at the meeting.
