Hyderabad | 2nd May 2021
With Covid-19 cases rising daily in Hyderabad's GHMC area, acting on orders issued by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar today held a virtual meeting with the GHMC's Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to review the steps being taken to manage the pandemic.

At the meeting, Kumar directed the Deputy Commissioners to start out-patient clinic centres at every government hospital, urban health centre, and basthi dawakhana, and asked them to ensure that all symptomatic patients be given a home treatment kit.

"Constitute teams comprising municipal workers and at least two Asha workers to carry out visits to every household in the GHMC area to identify people suffering from fever and other symptoms of Covid-19. After identifying the patients, the teams should hand over the kits containing medicines. They should also advise the affected persons on the dosage of the medication and on other care measures. The teams must check on the patients and monitor their health regularly," he added.

Further, the GHMC officials were asked to take up a cleanliness drive in all the government-run healthcare facilities in the area.

Secretary (Health) Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Medical Education Director Dr Ramesh Reddy, and Public Health Director G Srinivas Rao were among those who attended the meeting.
