Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar today said that around 96 lakh vaccinations had so far been administered in the state and that it would cross the one crore vaccination mark in a couple of days.
Speaking after inspecting a vaccination centre in Shivaji Nagar, in Hyderabad, Kumar explained, "In order to optimally utilise the supplies being provided by the union government, the Telangana government has taken up efforts to immunise the high-exposure groups in the state on a priority as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. As part of this, in an effort to vaccinate super spreaders, 25 lakh persons have been inoculated. Further, a mop up drive is being carried out in the GHMC area currently. In this, all those who missed the vaccination during the earlier special vaccination drive are being vaccinated now."
During the inspection, he interacted with the local street vendors and motivated them to get vaccinated. The vendors expressed their appreciation for the government's efforts to arrange a vaccination centre at their place of work, the Monda Market area.
The CS stated that the people of Telangana were being vaccinated across 100 centres. He added that 30 mobile units were immunising people within the GHMC limits.
On the occasion, Kumar lauded the staff of the state's health department for their service.
