Telangana today celebrated the country's 77th Independence Day with patriotic fervour.
Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy hoisted the national flag on the premises of the Assembly while Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy hoisted the tricolour on the premises of the Council.
Prior to taking part in the Independence Day celebrations at the Golconda fort, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao hoisted the national Flag at Pragathi Bhavan, and later visited the Martyrs' Memorial at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad where he paid floral tributes to the statehood movement martyrs.
Meanwhile, ministers hoisted the national flag in their respective district headquarters and took part in the Independence day celebrations. Home Minister Mahmood Ali hoisted the national flag at the Sangareddy district headquarters.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari hoisted the tricolour at the Telangana Secretariat while the Chief Justice of Telangana Alok Aradhe hoisted the flag on the premises of the High Court.
Independence Day was also celebrated by various educational institutions across Telangana by proudly unfurling the national flag and organising a range of activities to remember the freedom fighters.
