As part of the Swatantra Bharatha Vajrotsavalu celebrations to mark 75 years of Independence, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) started the distribution of national flags on Tuesday.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav launched the program of distributing the flags in Secunderabad. The minister handed over flags to the local residents, and explained to them the importance of the celebrations.
He was accompanied by GHMC Commissioner D S Lokesh Kumar and Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy.
Flags were also distributed in different other parts of the city in the presence of elected representatives.
Officials said that the corporation planned to distribute around 20 lakh flags during the celebrations.
