Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao on Monday urged voters to cast their franchise freely and without fear, on Tuesday's Telangana by-polls.
Talking to media persons, the CEO said that all arrangements have been made for smooth and peaceful conduct of poll scheduled to begin at 7am on Tuesday in all the 12 assembly constituencies.
He said that the EC has given strict instructions to polling agents to be present at the polling stations an hour before voting commences.
The CEO revealed that 1,582 EVMs would be used in Sirpur, Chennur, Mancherial, Nizamabad Urban, Dharmapuri, Vemulawada and Siddipet; and 1,201 ballot boxes would be used in Yellareddy, Korutla, Sircilla, Huzurabad and Warangal West.
Giving details, I V Subba Rao said that 23,59,228 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the 12 constituencies. He said that 11,75,117 of these are men and 11,84,111 women.
Elaborating further, the CEO said that 78 candidates are contesting for the Sircilla seat, while only 4 nominations were received from the Vemulawada seat.
The CEO said that 450 polling stations out of the 2783 have been identified as hyper-sensitive, and 460 have been identified as sensitive. 2,039 video cameras will be used to videograph the polling process.
