BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman stated that the Telangana budget for 2015-16 presented by Finance Minister Etela Rajender on Wednesday lacked clarity on both revenues and expenditure.
Speaking to media persons at Assembly's media point, Lakshman said that the government did not spend even 40% of last year's budget. Ideally, he said that the Finance Minister should have carried forward those unspent amounts into this year's budget to make it comprehensive. However, he said that the government presented a budget of Rs. 115,689 crores without even mentioning anything about the unspent amounts.
He also disputed the claims that Telangana was the second wealthiest state after Gujarat. He said that the Finance Minister should have elaborated on the same in his speech.
Lakshman said that while the government had completely skipped the mention of the farmers who had committed suicide, the number of the Telangana martyr families eligible for compensation had been reduced.
He said that the budget was also non-committal on the promise of KG-to-PG free education. (INN)
