Two Telugu Desam Party members were suspended from the Telangana Assembly for the rest of the budget session by Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary on Saturday.
A Revanth Reddy and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah were suspended for interrupting the Governor's speech yesterday claiming that the speech did not point out the failures of the government in fulfilling its election eve promises.
During Governor E S L Narasimhan's address to the joint session of both the houses of the legislature on Friday, the Congress members had also protested that the claim of all-round development in the state as a result of welfare measures initiated by the TRS government were far from the actual truth. But they had then staged a walk-out from the house.
In contrast, the TDP members stood up and kept interrupting the Governor's speech alleging that the TRS government had made the Governor lie regarding the state's development, and that the speech did not bring out all the failures of the government in fulfilling its election promises.
Due to the ruckus that they created, the Speaker today announced the suspension of Reddy and Veeraiah.
The Congress and BJP members protested that and termed it undemocratic. They then staged a walk-out from the house, and later held a meeting with the Leader Of Opposition K Jana Reddy to chalk out their action plan.
Meanwhile, the TRS predictably defended the decision taken by the Speaker. The party's leaders demanded that the TDP legislators apologise to the house for their behaviour, and change their attitude immediately.
