The Opposition, especially the Congress and the TDP, are sharpening their arsenal to launch a no-holds-barred onslaught against the TRS government on various issues concerning the people and the State during the winter session of the Assembly commencing from Friday.
The Business Advisory Committee, which met this morning on the Assembly premises, decided to hold the Session till December 30, with three days holidays on December 18, 24 and 25. The Assembly will restart business for another weeks days from January 2, 2017. Thus it would sit for 20 working days. Although in the beginning Leader of the House and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao decided to hold the session for only a fortnight, the Opposition insisted a 20-day sitting, to which he agreed.
The Assembly, which will commence the session at 10 am on Friday, would take up a special debate on the first day on the issue of demonetization and the hardships being faced by the people due to cash crunch of small denominations.
Other important issues including the problems being faced by farmers, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, fee reimbursement and scholarships, the condition of infrastructure in Hyderabad, unabated illegal constructions under GHMC limits, failure of the State government to fulfill its poll promises including giving free 2BHK houses to the poor and so on, are likely to dominate the session amid the Opposition trying to go all out in cornering the State government.
The Congress and the TDP legislature parties held separate meetings today to work out their strategies to take on the TRS government. The Central leadership of the Congress advised Party legislators in the State to take on the government aggressively.
Likewise, the Telangana TDP, despite its miniscule strength in the Assembly, seemed hell bent on tackling the government on various issues including the move to construct a new Secretariat and the huge expenditure involved in the construction of the Pragati Bhavan, the residence-cum-office of the Chief Minister in Begumpet.
The ruling TRS on its part is also getting ready to face the Opposition's onslaught, with suitable replies and fact checkers in place necessary to demolish its adversaries. KCR had already directed his ministerial colleagues and legislators to do their homework and come prepared to the House to take on the Opposition on any issue.
