The Telangana Assembly today concluded its winter session, that spanned seven days and lasted 37 hours and 44 minutes, and saw eight bills passed.
After a heated discussion on Rythu Bharosa, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar adjourned the Assembly sine die.
The session featured intense debates between the ruling and opposition parties, occasionally escalating into acrimonious exchanges. The proceedings were usually marked by high drama, particularly concerning the Formula E case registered against BRS leader K T Rama Rao that triggered raucous protests by BRS MLAs in the Assembly.
On the final day, the discussions grew emotional following the tragic death of the woman Revathi in a stampede during the premiere on December 4 of
Pushpa 2 and the subsequent arrest of actor Allu Arjun.
The Assembly passed eight bills during the winter session, including:
- Telangana Land Reforms 2024 Bill
- Panchayat Raj Act Amendment Bill
- Municipal Act Amendment Bill
- Telangana Universities Act Amendment Bill
- Young India Physical Education and Sports University Act Amendment Bill
- Goods and Services Tax (GST) Amendment Bill
- Telangana Payments of Salaries, Pensions and Disqualifications Removal Amendment Bill, and
- GHMC Amendment Bill
In addition to the legislative agenda, the session featured four short discussions on critical topics, including Telangana's rising debt and its financial policies, tourism development initiatives, infrastructure in government schools, and the functioning of milk cooperatives.
During the session, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ordered a Special Investigation Team inquiry into the leasing of the Outer Ring Road. He also stressed the need to improve basic facilities in government schools and outlined plans to advance tourism policies.
