Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today issued a strong warning to Tollywood personalities that the State government would not tolerate actions that endangered the public's lives.
Addressing the Sandhya theatre incident in the Assembly after it was brought up by MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, he acknowledged that while the film industry itself was not problematic, the government would not condone the activities of some people of the industry that compromised the public safety.
"The police did not grant permission for celebrities to visit the theatre due to space constraints, particularly the single entrance and exit for the audience. However, Allu Arjun, the star of
Pushpa 2, visited the theatre despite the lack of authorization. The local ACP warned the actor of potential law and order risks, but he refused to leave," he said.
"There would have been no objection if the actor had simply watched the movie and left. However, he opened the rooftop of his car and conducted a roadshow, attracting crowds from nearby theatres and resulting in a stampede, leading to the death of a woman Revathi and leaving her son in a coma," he added.
He criticized film celebrities for rushing to console the actor after his arrest and release while none of them visited the victim's family. "I don't understand what the film industry celebrities want," he said.
The CM also condemned BRS leaders and former ministers for criticizing the government over the arrest.
