Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Azmeera Chandulal today said that the state government had rechristened the Telangana State Archaeology department as "Heritage Telangana".
Addressing a press conference with Secretary B Venkatesham at the Secretariat, the minister said that the decision had been taken to strengthen the department.
The minister also said that the government of Telangana was conducting an international seminar for the first time to discuss subjects like Buddhism, the Qutb Shahi dynasty, and others that had contributed towards the history of Telangana.
The seminar, he said, would be a two-day event, scheduled to be held on January 19 and 20. Five international delegates including from the USA, United Kingdom, Italy and Greece, and several scholars from all over the country were expected to participate in the seminar which would have six panels and 35 presentations, he added.
The minister reiterated that the focus of his ministry, and of the projects that it took up, was to rediscover the rich history of Telangana, and also to encourage further research to disseminate information of its glorious past to future generations.
