Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was sidetracking the Miyapur land scam intentionally. He also demanded that the state government construct two lakh double bedroom houses for the poor in the Miyapur lands.
Telangana TDP leaders L Ramana, A Revanth Reddy, E Peddi Reddy, Ravula Chandrashekar Reddy, Aravind Kumar Goud, Onteru Prathap Reddy and others visited the Miyapur lands today and examined the conditions there. Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy said that the main culprit in the scam was a family member of Goldstone Prasad working in the Chief Minister's Office, and asked the CM why he was letting a person who allegedly looted lands worth Rs 15,000 crores in Miyapur continue as Secretary in his office, and why he was not initiating any action against her.
Reddy alleged that several ministers and the Deputy Chief Minister, and even the CM's own family members, had roles in the scam, and said that that was the reason for the lack of action, and the reason that the TDP was demanding a CBI inquiry into the scam.
He said that it was surprising that the Chief Minister was not reacting to the scam though there were news stories being published in many newspapers stating that several ministers had links with the scam. Newspapers had even published reports with clear evidence that the revenue minister had got two acres of land worth Rs 50 crore as a gift in this episode. He alleged that the reason the CM was sidetracking the case was then clear - the government would be affected in case the real culprits were exposed.
Reddy also wondered that 11 police teams were failing to catch Goldstone Prasad, when he was himself trying to surrender before the police. He opined that there was a threat to the life of Prasad because he could reveal the role of the key persons involved in the scam.
He pooh-poohed the statements of the TRS leaders that the government had itself exposed the Miyapur land scam, and said that the scam had come to light only after an internal audit was held in the Stamps & Registrations department. The same was mentioned even in the police complaint lodged by the department, he said.
He said that it was unfortunate that the government officials had not yet examined the lands even after all the prominent news stories. The CM should at least now try to protect the lands by constructing fences around them, he said.
Telangana TDP leaders Devaneni Sathish Madiga, M N Srinivas, Mekala Sarangapani, Jangaiah Yadav, Hanumantha Rao and others participated in the program.
