The Telangana cabinet will meet at Pragathi Bhavan on June 17 at 5 pm.
According to a press release, the cabinet will meet at the camp office of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who will chair the crucial meeting.
The cabinet is likely to focus on the land scam cases including the Miyapur case that allegedly runs into hundreds of crores of rupees and is attracting the unmitigated wrath of the opposition parties, which are on the warpath against the government and seeking a CBI inquiry. While the Congress leaders visited the affected Miyapur lands on Wednesday, Telugu Desam Party leaders complained to Governor E S L Narasimhan and sought a CBI inquiry into the matter. The Congress even accused KCR and his family members of being involved in the scams.
According to irrigation minister T Harish Rao, the government is planning to come up with a new land policy by making amendments to the existing land act to check irregularities and punish the guilty, and this is likely to be one of the key items on the agenda.
Other issues to be discussed prominently include the sheep-rearing scheme to be implemented soon, the status of the various irrigation projects, the implementation of several schemes including Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya and Centre-sponsored schemes, development of some roads into national highways, repairs of roads and sewage lines in the city that are not monsoon-ready, and the Bonalu and Ramzan festival activities.
