YSR Congress Party Slammed By Naidu

TDP President Chandrababu Naidu opines that Jaganmohan Reddy has launched YSR Congress Party to gain power and not to serve the people.
Hyderabad | 15th March 2011
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday alleged that former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has launched YSR Congress Party with an eye on the Chief Minister’s chair and not because he has any intention of serving the people.

Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, the Leader Of Opposition pointed out that Jaganmohan Reddy would not have launched the party if the Congress high command had named him the Chief Minister after the sudden death of his father and former CM, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

The TDP chief stated that YSR Congress Party has no direction, principle or agenda. He predicted that Jaganmohan Reddy would merge his party with the Congress, along the lines of PRP-Congress merger, sooner or later.

Naidu opined that Jaganmohan Reddy should have named his party 'YSR Corruption Party’ instead of ‘YSR Congress Party’, since, according to Naidu, YSR was involved in many scandals.

“We are witnessing a number of parties being launched only to gain power. These parties will not survive in the long run,” said Naidu. He reiterated that Jagan has launched his political party only to protect his personal interests.

The former Chief Minister also stated that the Congress has lost people’s confidence as it had failed to contain inflation, and because rampant corruption prevails in the country.

Naidu said that TDP was the only alternative to Congress, and that his party would provide a corruption-free administration in the state by sticking to its principles. He expressed confidence that the people of the state would vote for the TDP during the next elections.

Stating that the government had completely failed to support the weavers financially, Naidu demanded that the government honour its promise of releasing Rs. 312 crores. "The government has no guts to discuss weavers issue in the Assembly" he said, and pointed out that only Rs. 108 crores has been released instead of the promised Rs. 312 crore.

He also demanded that the government provide raw materials with subsidized price and power for the weavers.
