TDP MLA Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy on Friday claimed that the Telugu Desam Party never changed its stand on the Telangana issue.
Participating in the debate on the State Reorganisation Bill in the State Legislative Assembly here, Ravula said that the TDP politburo took a decision to support the Telangana demand and later party chief N Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to the Centre supporting statehood for the region.
He said that TDP never changed its stand on the Telangana issue.
Ravula expressed wonder over Congress leaders from the Seemandhra region opposing the Telangana Bill.
He said that the Bill has been sent by the Centre through the President of India and that the UPA government is being led by the Congress party.
"Therefore, the opposition by Congress leaders to the formation of Telangana is ridiculous," he claimed.
He also condemned the statement of minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar that was made against the Telangana Bill.
Referring to the remarks of N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Ravula said that the Chief Minister was thinking of bowling the last ball when the match is all over.
He said that the Telangana Bill has been introduced and the bifurcation of state would soon be a reality.
He demanded that the Assembly complete its debate on the Bill by January 23 and opposed the extension of time period for discussion. (INN)
