Stressing on the importance of small states for administrative convenience, the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum members on Saturday left for New Delhi in a special train to stage a dharna in front of the residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi on October 25th.
Talking to media persons before boarding the train at Secunderabad station, forum convener Nagam Janardhan Reddy said, "Our main intention in going to New Delhi is to mount pressure on Congress leaders to introduce a separate bill for Telangana in parliament. Only by introducing a bill, a separate Telangana state can be achieved and the aspirations of the people can be fulfilled."
The TDP leaders said they would meet Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi seeking introduction of a bill on Telangana state.
Reddy warned that if the Congress president Sonia Gandhi did not give her appointment to TDP leaders for submitting the memorandum, they would stage a massive agitation at Jantar Mantar on Oct 25th.
Earlier, the Telangana TDP leaders had paid rich tributes to martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana at Martyrs Memorial, Gun Park in the city.
