As part of the ongoing TDP membership drive in the two Telugu States, many people are registering their names for the membership of the party. And as part of this, Telugu film actor and former minister Babu Mohan too signed up for membership of the party today, in the Andol Assembly constituency.
After the process, Babu Mohan released a photo of himself as a member of the TDP.
Babu Mohan had originally joined the Telugu Desam Party due to a fondness for late AP CM and the founder of the party N T Rama Rao, way back in the 1990s. In 1998, he was elected as the MLA for the Andol Assembly constituency in Medak district. He served as Minister of Social Welfare in the undivided State. He later joined the TRS, and in the 2004 and 2014 elections, defeated Damodar Rajanarasimha of the Congress as a TRS candidate. However, in 2018, after he did not get a ticket from the TRS, he joined the BJP. He however lost to the TRS candidate Chanti Kranthi Kiran in the 2018 Assembly elections, and again in 2023 on a BJP ticket to Congress candidate Damodar Rajanarasimha.
He then resigned from the BJP citing insults in the party, and joined the Praja Santhi Party in March of this year, but quit after just a month. He's now finally back in the TDP, though it remains to be seen to what avail as the TDP is non-existent in Telangana.
