An aggrieved R Mallaiah on Saturday said that he and his family would have no recourse except taking their own lives in front of the NTR Trust Bhavan if his land is not vacated by a former Telugu Desam Party MLA.
Talking to INN after submitting a plea to the State Human Rights Commission, Mallaiah alleged that his 300 square yards of land under Survey No. 197, located at Reddy Colony, Manchiryala city of Adilabad district, was forcibly occupied by former Telugu Desam MLA B Janardhan some years ago.
Mallaiah claimed that he had purchased the plot of land from one Md Osman in 1984, but could not get it fenced or a get a boundary wall constructed, due to financial constraints.
He said, "I had spent all by money to buy that plot, so I could not spend on fencing it."
Mallaiah, who is a peon at the Panchayat Raj in Adilabad, said that the former TDP Legislator not only occupied his plot of land but also constructed a house on it. The TDP leader's brother is currently living in that house, says Mallaiah.
After trying to get the land vacated by personal pleading, the peon approached the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who assured him of all possible help.
Mallaiah says, "I met former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu 30 times, requesting him to look into my problems and direct his party leader to vacate the land which I had bought with my hard-earned money. Unfortunately my pleas fell on a deaf ear each time. Apart from assurances, Naidu did not make any serious effort to solve my problem."
The peon sees the State Human Rights Commission as his last hope. He says he would be happy to accept even an alternate piece of land or money at prevailing rates, in lieu of his land.
According to Mallaiah, he needs the money fast, since the lack of money is coming in the way of his daughter's marriage.
