TDP floor leader in the GHMC Singireddy Srinivas Reddy on Thursday requested Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to issue directions for the execution of repairs to the damaged roads, and the laying of new roads, in the GHMC limits.
In a representation made to the Chief Minister, Singireddy said that he had made several representations to the GHMC Commissioner and launched several agitations seeking immediate repair of damaged roads and laying of new roads during the summer expeditiously so as to complete them prior to the arrival of the monsoon.
But unfortunately, he said that the GHMC could not commence the work citing first the election code and now the passing of the summer season.
"Fortunately, the monsoon is yet to arrive and the delay should be used an opportunity to execute the pending works. Holding meetings with the officials concerned without starting the works will not solve the problem, but will only aggravate the problems during the fast-approaching rainy season," he said, adding that the works could be taken up by calling short tenders.
Singireddy threatened that the TDP Corporators and activists would stage dharnas in front of all the Zonal offices of the GHMC in the first phase, and that a protest would be organised before the Secretariat in the second phase, if the requisition was not considered. (INN)
