TDP Corporator Slams GHMC For Bad Roads

GHMC TDP floor leader Singireddy Srinivas Reddy slammed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for not taking up the repairs of roads that were damaged due to the recent rains in the city.
Talking to reporters after conducting a survey of roads, along with other TDP corporators, in the Central Zone areas, Singireddy said that bad roads pose serious threat to the common people.
Singireddy visited Ashoknagar, Chikkadpally, Domalguda, and Himayathnagar, where roads have become dangerous to drive on thanks to incomplete repair works by the GHMC and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board.
It was observed that the road near R K Degree College developed 4-6 inch deep pits, and the footpath was piled up with debris of a dismantled structure.
The lane leading to Tapadia Diagnostic Centre welcomes patients with a pond at the entrance. And the road from Tapadia Diagnostic Centre to Chikkadpally crossroads is also totally damaged, giving commuters a rough and bumpy ride.
Similarly, street no. 17, from Gagan Mahal to Domalguda, has a half-open manhole, the cover of which is dangerously kept open by the support of a boulder, to let storm water drain through it.
A canal-like pit was found in front of the turning at Eden Gardens Function Hall, and manhole lids are kept precariously open.
"First of all, GHMC officials don't repair the damaged roads promptly. Even if they repair them, they execute them in a shabby way and use inferior material, which gives way easily with one or two spells of heavy showers," Singireddy said.
TDP corporators Prem Dass Goud (Mylardevpally), J Hemalatha (Himayathnagar), Muta Padma (Gandhinagar), Bhanu Pratap (Kukatpally), Raj Jitender Nath (Macha Bollaram), Saritha Govind (Musheerabad) and Ashok Goud (Chandanagar) were also present. (INN)
