The TDP today celebrated its 40th foundation day. On the occasion, the party's rank and file paid rich tributes to TDP founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao. Many high-profile party leaders garlanded the statue of NTR on Beach Road.
Speaking on the occasion, the party's national head Chandrababu Naidu extended his greetings to his fellow leaders and party workers, and told them to take pride in the TDP as NTR had established it after drawing inspiration from luminaries like Kandukuri Veeresalingam, Gurajada Apparao, Potti Sriramulu and B R Ambedkar.
"Ours is party that was founded by a visionary who always dreamt of making the Telugu community a globally-recognised and honoured one. It is now up to us to take forward this glorious legacy. We have to work unitedly towards bringing development to the Telugu people," Naidu said.
He then called upon the party's workers to take a pledge that they would establish Rama Rajya in AP.
TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh also addressed the rank and file on the occasion, and said, "The love the public showers on us has always been the strength of our party. This is because we have always worked towards the welfare of all sections of society."
Former minister and MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao too took part in the celebrations on Beach Road.
He expressed happiness that the party had completed 40 years.
Talking about NTR, Rao said that the latter had pulled off an amazing feat by defeating the Congress just nine months after founding the TDP.
The leader then said that he hoped that the party would win the Tirupati by-election and would regain its past glory.
