The contract paramedical staff working in various hospitals in the Andhra Pradesh have decided to intensify their agitation as their talks with the state government concluded inconclusively on Monday.
The paramedical staff's decision to intensify their stir came after representatives on Monday held a meeting with Health And Family Welfare Minister Danam Nagender over service regularization and other demands.
However, the meeting concluded without any concrete decision being taken, and the minister being non-committal to make any promise to paramedical staff. The representatives also stated that Nagender even failed to assure them that he would look into their demands.
As many as 3,500 male and female health assistants, 600 lab technicians, and hundreds of radiographers, ophthalmic assistants and staff nurses have been in contract service since the last 10 years.
Besides regularisation of services, the staff demand hike in wages in accordance with PRC 2008, maternity leave for women employees, and filling of 759 vacancies of staff nurse posts.
The agitating staff warned that they would lay siege on Health Directorate on November 17th in a bid to build pressure on the government to regularize their services.
