TSR Threatens To Sue Daggubati
Former MP T Subbarami Reddy threatens to file a defamation case against Congress MLA Daggubati, for the latter's comments on TSR's alleged involvement in scams.
Former MP T Subbarami Reddy, on Thursday, threatened to file a defamation suit against Congress MLA Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao, on charges of levelling baseless allegations against him (TSR).
Addressing a meeting in Visakhapatnam, Subbarami Reddy alleged that Daggubati, husband of Union minister D Purandeswari, had levelled serious allegations against him during a press conference held on Wednesday.
Daggubati had alleged that TSR was arrested in the 1980s for the illegal sale of cement (allotted to the Nagarjuna Sagar project) in the black market. Further, he alleged that TSR had made money by taking advantage of the loopholes in the project's contracts.
Describing the allegations as totally baseless, Subbarami Reddy said that Daggubati was trying to tarnish his public image. Therefore, he said that he is going to file a defamation case (for monetary compensation of Rs. 5 crore) against Daggubati.
TSR said he would also lodge a complaint with the Congress High Command.
The war of words between TSR and Daggubati started after the former announced that he would contest from the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat, which is currently represented by Purandeswari. (INN)
