Peeved at the interference of the police personnel who are reportedly stopping students from campaigning for the forthcoming by-elections, representatives of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee on Wednesday approached the State Human Rights Commission seeking restraint on the men in khaki.
According to the petition filed by the students, the police personnel are creating innumerable hurdles for them when they set out to campaign for pro-Telangana parties.
The students allege that the policemen stop the students and ask them many questions, leading to wastage of time, and also ask them to show identity proof.
Talking to INN, TRS general secretary Rakesh said that the cops also demand that the student produce educational certificates.
Rakesh further alleged that the police intervention was a violation of their democratic rights.
