TGHRC Takes Serious Note Of HYDRAA Demolition Issue

The residents claimed that they were not afforded sufficient opportunity to respond to the demolition notice.
Hyderabad | 13th March 2026
The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC), under the leadership of Chairperson Dr Justice Shameem Akther, has initiated an inquiry into a complaint by residents of APR Pranav Antilia, located in Bachupally in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The residents alleged that representatives of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) proceeded with the demolition of their residential community's compound wall on March 9 without affording them (the residents) sufficient opportunity to respond to the notice issued.

They also alleged that female residents were manhandled and pushed aside when they requested additional time to relocate essential electrical equipment, including generators and transformers.

The complainants also alleged that misleading information circulated in electronic and print media led to abusive trolling and derogatory comments against women residents, creating fear and mental distress among them.

Observing that such trolling and humiliating conduct affected the right to life, dignity, privacy and peaceful living guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India, the Commission recommended interim relief under Section 18(c) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.

The Commission also recommended that the Telangana DGP take appropriate steps to prevent trolling and ensure the protection of the dignity and privacy of the residents.

It also advised the GHMC Commissioner to cooperate in restoring street lights by facilitating power supply along the side of the newly laid road, and recommended that the Chairman and Managing Director of TGSPDCL provide the necessary technical support for the restoration of electricity to the street lights.

The concerned authorities have been directed to submit their reports to the Commission, and the matter has been posted for further enquiry on April 7.
