T-Govt To Control Of Hyderabad Law & Order: Nayani

The Telangana Home Minister claimed the Central Government had indicated it would not assign control over the law & order of Hyderabad to the Governor.
Hyderabad | 5th August 2014
Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Tuesday claimed that the Central Government had given clear indications that it would not assign the control over the law & order of Hyderabad to the Governor.

Addressing the meeting of the Telangana Police Officers Association at the State Secretariat, Reddy said that the Telangana government would have absolute control over the law & order in the GHMC limits, the common capital area.

He appeared confident that the Centre would not implement the clause in the AP Reorganisation Act that gives control to the Governor over the law & order of the common capital for a period of 10 years.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister advised the police personnel to maintain friendly relations with the people to improve the image of the force.

Reacting to the demands made by the Association, he said that district-level committees would be formed to address the issue of promotions and transfers, and the cases would be reviewed once in 6 months.

Besides the modernisation of the police force, the government was taking steps to fill the vacant posts.

With regard to the police lathicharge on farmers near Narsingi of the Medak district on Monday, Reddy said that the police personnel should have observed restraint.

He said that such incidents would be used by the opposition parties to defame the government. (INN)
