Protesting the remarks of Minor Irrigation minister T G Venkatesh, the IAS Officers Association, on Tuesday, lodged a complaint with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his office in the Secretariat, seeking action against him.
It may be recalled that Venkatesh had stated that IAS officials who are not working efficiently should be shot dead on the road.
The IAS officers took serious note of the Minor Irrigation Minister for defending his remarks despite leaders from various political parties raising a hue and cry over them.
Strongly condemning the minister's comment, the Officers Association has termed them as "derogatory" and not suitable to the stature of his post.
They said that the ministers' comments would discourage bureaucrats from discharging their duties effectively and send wrong signals to people.
They appealed to the chief minister to direct the minister to withdraw his remarks immediately and take serious action against him.
According to reports, the chief minister assured the IAS officers that he would look into their issue. (INN)
