The Telangana Agitation Committee on Thursday felicitated the 5 MLAs who had been suspended from the state Assembly for disrupting Governor ESL Narasimhan's address to the joint sitting of the Legislature on the opening day of the budget session.
The felicitation ceremony witnessed members of the committee warmly welcoming the MLAs and felicitating the suspended pro-Telangana MLAs - T Harish Rao and Revanth Reddy of the TRS, and K Vidya Sagar Rao, K Sammaiah and P Mahender Reddy of the TDP.
The committee's political affairs Secretary S Ramaiah also denounced their suspension from the House for 7 days, and termed it as 'undemocratic' since it infringed on the MLAs' rights.
Ramaiah also praised Harish Rao as a disciplined, respected politician who was well aware about the rules and regulations of the House.
The committee leader also said that matters would not have gone out of hand and there would not have been any disruption to the Governor's address if he had mentioned the Telangana issue in his address.
Committee President Kishan Rao also took exception against the suspension of the pro-Telangana leaders.
The committee also warned that if Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar fails to withdraw the suspension orders, they will knock at the door of the State Human Rights Commission.
