Leaders seem to continue to desert the Telugu Desam Party. Merely 3 days after senior party leader
Kodali Nani left, former politbureau member Uppuleti Kalpana, today, called on YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi at her Lotus Pond residence.
After the meeting, Kalpana told media persons that she was suspended from the party just because she had met Mekaparti Raj Mohan Reddy on his office to offer condolences for the death of his mother.
She condemned the "attitude" of the TDP's supremo, and claimed that she was suspended within 15 minutes of her meeting with Mekaparti Raj Mohan Reddy.
Uppuleti Kalpana complained of injustice to Dalit leaders in the Telugu Desam Party. She claimed that no action is being taken against leaders of upper castes who meet with leaders of other parties, and that only Dalit leaders are being targeted.
"Despite working hard for the party, Dalit leaders are being deprived of justice and are facing discrimination in the Telugu Desam," she said.
She also said that SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities also face discrimination within the party, and that this is why these sections are distancing themselves from the party.
Kalpana alleged that the Telugu Desam Party doles out justice only to the rich and not to Dalits.
She said that the action taken against her is an insult to Dalits, and added that it was because of this injustice that she had called on Y S Vijayalakshmi to convey her decision to join the party.
Kalpana also said that she was impressed with the way Jagan has been working for the downtrodden. She added that she would announce her date of joining the YSRC after consulting with her supporters. (INN)
