The Supreme Court asked Prakash to approach the Telangana High Court again to obtain anticipatory bail in cases against him alleging forgery and cheating.
Hyderabad | 3rd June 2019
The Supreme Court today asked the former CEO of the news channel TV9, Ravi Prakash, to approach the Telangana High Court again to obtain anticipatory bail in cases against him alleging forgery and cheating by him.
It also asked the Telangana High court to hear the case on its merits.
The Telangana High court had earlier rejected anticipatory bail to Prakash, but the Supreme Court set aside that decision though it stopped short of granting anticipatory bail itself.
The apex court also directed the Telangana High Court to take up hearing of the case and deliver an order on the issue before June 10, 2019.
It also asked Ravi Prakash to appear before the Hyderabad police for interrogation.
The SC directed the police to issue notices 48 hours before arresting Prakash.
Senior Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued the case on behalf of Prakash, and advocate Ranjith Khmer argued the case on behalf of the Telangana government, in the Supreme Court.
