» Students To Travel By Metro And Deluxe Buses On Regular Passes
Students Passes For All RTC Buses
Minister for Transport announced that from March 25th, college/school students can use regular bus passes to travel in all RTC buses by paying an additional fare.
Terming his decision as 'historical', Minister for Transport Botsa Satyanarayana on Wednesday stated that from March 25th onwards, college and school students who have bus passes will be allowed to travel in Metro and Deluxe buses by paying an additional fare.
Talking to mediapersons at Assembly mediapoint, the Minister stated that the decision was taken after the college/school students and their parents grieved that they were forced to wait for long periods for buses, since the students' bus passes covered only regular buses.
Taking their appeal into consideration, the Minister announced that students with bus passes can now opt to travel by Metro and Deluxe buses by paying an additional Rs. 7 and Rs. 5 to travel by city and district express buses respectively.
Satyanarayana said that nearly 17 lakh students who take the State Road Transport Corporation buses to attend classes at schools and colleges will be benefited by this decision.
Reacting to the outcome of Legislative Council elections from the Local Authorities Constituencies, the Minister stated that all the Congress leaders should be held responsible for the loss faced by the party candidates.
"If all the Congress leaders had acted in cohesion, collectively and responsibly, the official candidates would have undoubtedly won the Council polls," Satyanarayana stated.
"A few leaders resorted to cross-voting as they were lured by some groups, and the others gave in due to the pressure mounted on them," he stated.
