Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao reiterated that government programs ought to be implemented more effectively in all the new districts which were formed for decentralized administration, better governance, and convenience of the people.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to survey all families in the new districts and their living standards, identify the disenfranchised among them, and design exclusive programs for their benefit. Government chief advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary S P Singh, chief Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, MLAs Kanakaiah and Venkateswarlu, Principal Secretaries from various departments, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
Addressing District Collectors at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday, the Chief Minister said, "Telangana stood first in the country in terms of production by registering 19.5% GDP rate. This has been possible due to the various schemes and amenities being provided in the State including education, uninterrupted power supply, and water supply. We will hold on to this growth rate and enhance it further."
"Our State has a large rural population, and so, special focus is needed to strengthen rural economy. Identify human resource through resource mapping, study and understand situations at the ground level in towns and villages, and take measures to eradicate poverty there," the Chief Minister claimed.
Pointing out that SCs constituted 16% to 17% of the State's population, STs 10%, and women 50%, the CM said that the SCs were kept outside the villages and STs were confined to their thandas or gudems, and worse, the women to their kitchens. In this way, over 75% of human resource was being wasted.
"Ours is one of the few nations in the world that doesn't utilize the human resource to its fullest. Women, SC, and STs shall be encouraged from now on. Special funds will be provided for STs and dalits. All proposals for their development shall be made before the upcoming State Budget session," KCR urged.
