TPCC president A Revanth Reddy today made a shocking demand of his fellow party leaders in asking them to "stone" all defectors leaving the party after becoming public representatives.
Commenting on the matter after paying a visit to AICC secretary S A Sampath Kumar, Reddy said that the Congress' rank and file would fight till the cancellation of the membership of 12 MLAs who had left the party came through.
The leader also demanded that the MLAs who had left the party resign from their posts and contest in elections for the seats they had won, and that the state Assembly speaker takes action against all the defectors.
He then spoke about the upcoming by-election in the state's Huzurabad constituency, and claimed that the Congress would teach a befitting lesson to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao by winning the seat.
The TPCC head later called on former union minister Renuka Chowdhury.
He has been in the news lately not only because he was recently made the new TPCC head but more because of the discontent that the appointment has caused within the Congress. Several senior leaders including V Hanumantha Rao and Marri Shashidhar Reddy have made explicit their displeasure with the party high command's decision regarding the appointment.
In fact, Shashidhar Reddy even tendered his resignation from the post of state Congress Election Coordination Committee chairperson. Like many others, he too had been pushing the case of more senior leaders, demanding that a "party loyalist" be given the post.
