Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender today said that he remained a member of the Congress and had no affiliation with the BRS.
Despite being elected as an MLA representing the BRS and currently facing issues related to party defections and disqualification petitions, he stated his loyalty to the Congress explicitly.
During a meeting with party workers in the Himayatnagar division, Nagender said that he was ready to resign if necessary and contest a by-election, and expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious with a significant majority.
The MLA also said that he had been successful in elections six times and had no fear of by-elections.
"I am making this statement based on the trust and support of my activists, who have consistently stood by me regardless of the decisions I make. My willingness to resign and contest a by-election, if required, is driven by the encouragement of party workers," he said.
Nagender had already said that he was ready to resign if Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed him to do so.
Disqualification petitions are still pending against 5 of the 10 MLAs who moved from the BRS to the Congress (the Speaker ruled against the other five, saying there was no proof that they had defected).
