Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam's Executive Officer I Y R Krishna Rao, on Wednesday, stated that 37 lakh devotees had the darshan of Lord Venkateswara under the Srivari Seeghra Darshan program.
Talking to media persons on the occasion of the completion of one year of the Srivari Seeghra Darshan program, the Executive Officer revealed that the Devasthanam earned a revenue of Rs. 117 crore under the scheme.
He said the Srivari Seeghra Darshan program was rechristened as Srivari Special Darshan.
Krishna Rao said the TTD has decided to implement the Srivari Laghu Darshan on Tuesday and Wednesday from now onwards on a trial basis. Under this system, devotees are allowed to have the darshan of the presiding deity from a distance, i.e., from the Jaya and Vijaya point.
He said the management was contemplating drastically reducing the issuance of VIP break darshan tickets, and to utilise the darshan timings thus saved, for the benefit of ordinary pilgrims.
The EO said the management was exploring 'ways and means' to get closer to ordinary pilgrims by streamlining the administration.
