The Justice Srikrishna Committee, the panel appointed by the centre to help settle into the contentious issue of the creation of a separate Telangana state, will hold one more series of meetings with Congress leaders and other groups on July 5, 6 and 7.
The panel had earlier said that the series of meetings have concluded and only trips to various districts of the state would be undertaken.
Talking to media persons on Thursday, Justice B N Srikrishna said that the panel members will undertake tours of the various districts in the state from the second week of July.
He said the committee will not ask for postponement of the forthcoming by-election to 12 Assembly constituencies in the Telangana region, adding that it was the Election Commission's responsibility to conduct elections and that he did not foresee any reasons for asking for postponement.
Justice Srikrishna said that the commission's task was similar to a 'train', and said that it is proceeding ahead on schedule and will arrive at its destination on time.
When questioned about meeting leaders from the Telugu Desam Party, Justice Srikrishna said that 3 groups from the party had already met the panel members.
When asked if TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu had met the Panel, Justice Srikrishna brushed the question aside by saying that the Naidu had already said that Telangana and Andhra region are his 2 eyes.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary S V Prasad met the Srikrishna Committee members and submitted several reports on fund allocations for the various works undertaken in the state, as sought by the committee earlier.
Officials of the Planning, Education, Finance and other departments also met the committee and submitted reports. Copies of the Girglani Commission report were handed over as well.
